One of my rants ๐Ÿ˜‚

I put up a question on my whatsapp status a few days ago, “is littering a sin?”, some people said it is, another set of people said it is wrong but it isn’t necessarily a sin, one person even said “in the book of oversabi people who have added to the ten commandments”.

So i decided to ask another question, “is littering wrong”. Basically everybody said yes to this.
Now I’m not trying to make anyone feel bad or make myself feel like I’m better. If we all know littering is wrong then why do we do it?. It doesn’t cost you anything to hold on to that wrapper or nylon and dispose it properly later on. When people throw dirt on the floor, who are they expecting to pick it up for them?(maybe their househelps).

Littering, throwing your dirt just anywhere is one of the major causes of floods in Nigeria, which has taken so many lives but still most people feel that it’s just one nylon it doesn’t matter. One day it’s going to get to the point where it does matter, in fact it has even gotten to that point.

So my darlings, let’s all try to stop littering, it takes conscious effort to actually stop but i believe we can do it. Nigeria can actually be cleaner.

Teach your children to dispose their waste properly, be a responsible adult and stop throwing things out of a vehicle. If we can do this when we travelto other countries, why is it so difficult to do in your country.

#Berets

Lately I’ve been so fascinated with hair accessories like scarves and turbans, but my latest fascination right now is the “beret”.

I know when berets are mentioned, we always think about those ugly hats that we often see people wear but berets are a hot fashion trend right now.

The great thing about berets is you can wear it with literally anything. A gown, a simple top and trousers or skirts….anything. Well, maybe except iro and buba, but then you might want to start a fashion trend.

So do you think berets is a must have for every woman and how do you plan to accessorise your outfits with berets. Send your pictures and let’s start a trend. #beretsfรญmor.

What I’ve been up to

Hi guys, i know it’s been like forever since i wrote something. I’ve been on and off, trying to figure out some things about myself and life generally ๐Ÿ˜‚. So I’m just going to let you guys catch up with what I’ve been up to since i wrote my last post.

Firstly, I’m done with nysc, finally ๐Ÿ’ƒ. I was so excited when i was done. I left abeokuta the same day i got my certificate, like i didn’t even waste time. I just packed my bags and zoomed off. I missed my mom so much,i couldn’t wait to see her again. That was around March. I slept a lot for a few days after i got back home, then i started getting restless. People that know me, know that i can’t sit or stay in a place for too long doing nothing, it’s not possible. My mom made a joke about that one day, she was like “ninu yara kekere yii, fikayo le rin irin eko lati ibadan” ๐Ÿ˜‚ and she’s right, i just can’t sit in a place for too long doing nothing. So after a month i decided to go to fashion school which has been my dream for so long. I never shut up about going to fashion school, I’m sure people were already annoyed with the way i was always talking about it. I went to ibadan city fashion college because they are the best in ibadan and believe me i did my research and all. First day i was so nervous, my mom actually went with me…(i know I’m a mommy’s girl). The next few days weren’t so bad, the people there are nice, the owners of the school are awesome, i met a lot of amazing people and everyday is just interesting. I’m still there and i would definitely update you guys on how it goes.

So there you have it, what I’ve been to. If you want to go into fashion…if you want to learn fashion and you’re in ibadan, you can check out ibadan city fashion college, maybe we will meet each other there โ˜บ. Bye

This is me trying to be a serious student ๐Ÿ˜‚

Busy or productive?

“Time waits for no man”, “time is no respecter of person”, “time is money”, “money is time”, time, time, time….so many quotes on time and all of them true.

The difference between a successful person and a poor person is how time is utilized. Most successful people are people who aren’t idle or lazy, you don’t see them postponing important things or procastinating because they understand the concept of”time is money” and “time waits for no man”. They utilize their time well.

Now not all busy people are successful. There’s a difference between “being busy” and “being productive”. Busy people don’t have a plan for their time, they want to do everything, thinking that as long as they’re busy they are achieving something. Productive people on the others hand have a plan for their time, they prioritize things that they need to do, they let go of things that can’t be done and most importantly they know when to take breaks.

We make plans for almost everything in our lives. As much as we make plans for other things, we should also makes plans for our time because being productive is better than being busy.

Nysc diary

I’ve been in comfort zone for a really long while, waking up when i want to, taking a bath when i want to, eating when i want to or not at all. Then….all at once i was thrown into reality, like literally thrown and it hurt like hell. It felt like i was dragged across a Rocky Mountain…no exaggerations. I left home for nysc orientation camp in shagamu where i was about to realize life really wasn’t a bed of roses and your parents won’t be with you everytime. I had to wake up early and do things when i was told to and when i decided not to do it i was punished. For the first few days i couldn’t cope, i got sick a couple of times, i cried a lot, i kept to myself a lot, i even considered jumping over the wall and running ๐Ÿƒ away to freedom. I survived at the end.

Fast forward to a few weeks, i started working at my place of primary assignment. The first week was okay, they were still giving me the new girl treatment. Next day bayii, i had to wake up by 4am, 4am!!!๐Ÿ˜ฎ. This made me so happy that i never went to a boarding school. I’m still surviving๐Ÿ’ช.

Bottom line is you never know if you’ve been lazy or hardworking if you remain in your comfort zone, with your parents, where they rub your head, feed you and let you sleep the whole day because that’s what parents do, they dote on us.

To-Do list

When I was little, I remember my dad writing tasks down on a sticky note, putting it on the dashboard of the car as he drove us to school and ticking off the lists one by one as he completed the tasks. There was always a new one each day, even on Sundays and what was there yesterday was not going to be there the next day. I found this funny then,” why would you need to write out stuffs you need to do before you do them when you can just do them as you think of it”. Growing a little bit older ,I got my answer.

To-do lists are like bucket lists but for a shorter period of time (days or weeks). I found out that writing out things I want to do each day, putting it up where I can see it and ticking it off one by one made me more organized and more focused and I achieved a lot more in a day than I would’ve if I just did things as I thought about them.

To-do lists should be simple and precise, shouldn’t be an essay and should most preferably be in bullet points. The tasks should be arranged in order of preference so the most urgent tasks get done first and finally make sure you tick off the tasks that have been completed. This way you are focused, organized and you get to complete your tasks. No spillovers.

Fear

Atychiphobia; the fear of failure, the fear of not being good enough

Everyone is afraid of something. Some people are afraid of the dark and some are afraid of heights. More than half of the world’s population at one point in their lives are afraid of failure, the fear of thinking your best isn’t good enough.

Why? I think this is because most of the time we are so concerned and caught up with what other people think about us and not what we think of ourselves. We keep evaluating our lives based on other people’s progress when we should be evaluating our lives based on our progress. This is what causes the fear of “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never be as good as she is”. Well it doesn’t matter, you don’t have to be as good as the other person, as long as you are a better person than you were yesterday, that’s great.

A lot of us start out with amazing and awesome dreams but halfway into it we start focusing on others, we forget our dreams and we start living out our fears. The greatest prison that you can live in is the fear of what other people think. Forget what anyone thinks of your dreams no matter how small, big or crazy they are ,they’re your dreams and you should do everything in your power to make them come true.

God’s gift

“Children are a gift from God”, everybody says. That’s true. Children really are a gift from God. But nobody ever talks about parents. I believe parents are also just as much a gift from God as children are.

Now some people might argue and say , ” what about the parents that don’t care about their children or abandon their children, are they also gifts from God”. Sadly as long as there are good things, there’ll also be bad things.

So parents, the parents who make sure you don’t go hungry, the parents who make sure you go to school and finish, the parents who make sure you don’t lack anything you need even though it means they’ll give up on buying new things for themselves or looking nice.

The parents who run up and down when you have something as little as a fever. The parents who are always concerned about you and always praying for you. Now those parents are really really a gift from God.
